birth doula & photographer in Buffalo, NY

hi, i'm jess!

I’m a birth doula & photographer helping families in and around Buffalo, NY.

When I’m not doula-ing pregnant women and their partners, I’m mom-ing two little girls in our small & cozy home just outside of the city. I’m so humbled to be able to live a life where my two passions co-exist.

Like a lot of other doulas, I began my birth-work journey after being pregnant myself for the first time. I researched my options for labor and birth, and became engulfed in the information I was discovering. After adjusting to being a mother and adding a second baby to our family, I dove deep into the world of mommas and babies and haven’t looked back since.

I truly believe every family could benefit from the knowledge and support a doula has to offer. Give me a call & let’s talk about what that means for you, wherever you may be on your parenthood journey.

what do you get when you hire me as your doula?

prenatal support

Throughout your pregnancy, I’ll be available via text/email/phone to answer your questions & send you resources. We'll have 1-2 formal meetings to go over any concerns you have about labor & birth, get to know each other better, and talk about comfort measures.

I’ll also help you formulate a birth plan according to your preferences for labor, birth, and the postpartum period.

labor support

Starting 2 weeks prior to your due date up until you give birth, I’ll be “on call” for you and your partner.  I’ll have a back-up doula ready to attend your birth in the rare chance that I wouldn’t be able to be there myself.

During labor and birth, I’ll be by your side (and your partner’s!) to assist in emotional, physical, and informational support, whatever that looks like to you.

postpartum support

Immediately following the birth, I'll stay with you and your partner for 1-2 hours, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together.

I’ll also provide 1 postpartum visit within 2 weeks after the birth. During that time, we'll have the chance to reflect back on your birth experience and I can answer any other questions or concerns you might have.

what families are saying...

"Jess was amazing. We used her as our doula for the birth of our daughter, Penelope. I had many health issues during my pregnancy and she was by my side every step of the way. She never made me feel bad for reaching out and even helped me choose things I'd need for our daughter. I started contracting at 34 weeks and every time I reached out she offered to come over, even though that was above and beyond her duties. My delivery in the hospital was nerve wrecking (even my mother had to step out) but Jess was calm and comforting. She help answer every question I had after my daughter was born and to this day we keep in touch. I would highly recommend her to help doula any family. As a first time mom, she really helped make things easier for me."

"If you are on the fence about hiring a doula, do it. And if you have the chance to make it Jess, definitely do it! You are one of the lucky ones. Labor is one of the most vulnerable times in a woman’s life. You need a really good support team to get through it and Jess Is just that. She helped through every part of my pregnancy, through the weird questions I texted late at night, to being right by my side when my baby was born. She is so genuine, kind and warm. Her love and understanding for labor and birth really shine through when she is doing her job. She knew just what to tell my husband to help comfort me in times of need, and even went to grab my husband’s dinner while I labored. It was so nice to have a familiar face in the hospital room with us and I’m really glad we took the leap. I will have a forever friend in Jess and I’m overjoyed that this experience brought us together."
